The Terra Guitar is  typical from the Azores Archipelago and it has different characteristics in S. Miguel Island and Terceira Island.
The Terra Guitar from S. Miguel has 5 double strings and usually the mouth has the shape of two hearts. According to popular interpretation, the hearts represents the love between two people that are physically separated. Other elements of the decoration adjacent symbols of the mouth and top are associated with the act of emigration and with the birds from Azores.
