Brazilian Cavaquinho

This Cavaquinho (or Cavaco) descends from the portuguese Cavaquinho. The strings’ length is identical but the harmonic box is significantly bigger.

It is used to play the Samba and Choro. Usually it is a soloist.

In its different configurations of construction, these are the most popular:

Top: Linden, Spruce

Sidesand back: Mahogany, Rosewood, Walnut

Neck:  Poplar, Mahogany

Fretboard: Wengé,Rosewood
